Although it is most common to rent a car, there are many who do not want to or cannot drive. Getting to and from Legacy Dunes/Disney World and other travel in the area will require you to use a taxi or the LYNX Bus System http://trip1.golynx.com/. Other transportation services such as chauffer driven limousines, vans, town cars, mini-buses and motor coaches are also available to shuttle you around.
Orlando probably has the best taxi system in the USA and I have never heard of people getting ripped off as is common in places like New York.
But in most of the southern USA you do not hail a cab. You must phone it in or have a previous arrangement. You will not see taxis cruising around looking for fares. One company owns most of the cabs and the drivers rent by the day or week. The same company runs most of the Disney transportation. You can also call them and ask for an estimated charge. All taxis are computerized and If you make a complaint the driver is immediately taken off the computer and cannot work. Try the Mears Transportations website or phone 407-422-2222

They now have a cell/mobile app

Beyond Disney World itself, you would need Uber or Lyft or Mears transportation system.
Walt Disney World’s ON SITE transportation system has no requirement that you be staying on property or at a particular resort. And most of the transportation options on site are free. We’ll get into the exceptions in a bit, but you can rest assured that the on-property Disney boat, bus, monorail, and Skyliner system is available to guests at no charge. You don’t have to make reservations or have any sort of ticket to use these transportation vehicles. The drivers don’t even have any mechanism to take payments or tickets.
You might rarely see fine print that some Disney World transportation is only for resort guests. I have never been asked where I’m staying as a condition of boarding a vehicle, nor have I seen any other guest asked this. That said, on a handful of the most crowded days of the year, you might be asked to show resort ID to get on the monorail to the Magic Kingdom, at some times of the day. This is simply for crowd control purposes at the park and has nothing to do with limiting your access to the transportation itself. You can get anywhere on Walt Disney World property using only free Disney-provided transportation, but bear in mind that many types of trips will require a mid-route transfer. For example, to get from the Magic Kingdom to EPCOT, you’ll need to change monorail lines at the Transportation and Ticket Center, or to get from the Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Beach Club, you’ll need to change buses at the Animal Kingdom park or switch from a bus to a boat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There are some situations where using a paid form of transportation (such as a taxi, Uber, or Lyft) can save you time, but if you’re willing to wait, the free option will work.
🚗 How to Find Us: Expert Driving Directions
Our condos are located within the gated Legacy Dunes Resort at 3200 Legacy Blvd, Kissimmee, FL 34747.
The Best Route (Via I-4 West)
Most guests find this the simplest route from Orlando International Airport (MCO):
-
Exit MCO following signs for North Exit / FL-528 West (The Beachline).
-
Merge onto I-4 West toward Tampa.
-
Take Exit 64 for US-192 West (Kissimmee).
-
Stay on US-192 West for approximately 6 miles.
The Final Approach (Watch for the Landmarks!)
As you drive along US-192 West, keep a lookout for these two specific markers to ensure you never miss the turn:
-
Marker 1 (The Warning): You will see the traffic lights at Lindfields Blvd on your left. This is your signal that you are almost home!
-
Marker 2 (The Turning): After the Lindfields lights, the very next left turn is Legacy Blvd.
-
The Landmark: You will see the RaceTrac gas station right on the corner of this turn. Note that there are no traffic lights at the Legacy Blvd turn, so keep your speed moderate once you pass Lindfields.
⛽ Pro Tip: Cheap Gas at RaceTrac
The RaceTrac at our entrance is not just a landmark; it is consistently one of the cheapest places to fill up the car in the Disney area. It’s also open 24/7—perfect for grabbing a late-night snack or cold drink when you arrive.
